With a degree in Popular Music Performance, Alex “ABComposer” Brown decided he wanted more from his music- to be used to enhance, envelop and fortify a moving image. Starting with indie video games, Brown decided that creating music in a post production sense, would be his future livelihood.
Having a desire to work on more projects, Brown later got involved in several online video game jams, ranging from puzzle games to bullet hell and story games; no prizes had been won, however a plethora of experience was gained.
Later on, Brown was contacted to work on a project that he himself knew little about- a short film. Working on this project was pivotal to Brown’s success as a composer as it not only let his music flourish through a different medium, but it also led him to working on and understanding different aspects of post production audio, including sound design, ADR, sound mixing and more, with one project “Dropouts” being nominated for “Best Sound” as well as “Best Music” via the Independent Horror Movie Awards 2024.
Brown currently continues to work in film, fulfilling the vision that many talented directors have. Being inspired by composers such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Wise and Keith Power, Brown uses his past experience of different approaches to music to keep his sound unique and evolving.
